Last Quarter Moon
The Last Quarter Moon is when the moon's illumination is at 50%. It's a time of decrease, release, and letting go as the moon wanes and we approach a New Moon. Half light, half dark this phase is about balance and reorientation. It's a great time for cleaning and decluttering, organizing and preparing, detoxing - and most of all - RESTING. Take this time to tend to those annoying but necessary tasks you've been putting off, and commit to some much needed self-love practices. If the waxing phase leading up to the Full Moon is about the swell of energy and light, abundance and action, than the waning phase is about slowing down, resting, healing, and planning.
One way to work with this lunar phase is to take a ritual bath. Make sure your bathroom is nice and clean. Gather some of your favorite items: a good book, your journal, music, a cup of tea. Set the mood: light some candles, burn some incense, gather some bath salts or herbs if you have them. Take a deep breath and clear your mind. While you fill your tub with water, reflect on what you would like to release that is no longer serving you. Soak in your bath, allowing yourself to relax and reflect. Enjoy the moment! Take your time. When you are done, picture everything that you are releasing running down the drain. To complete the ritual you must replace what you released with love. Give yourself an affirmation, think of three things you are grateful for, or just give yourself a pat on the back for taking some time for yourself. You deserve it.
